Tim has over 17 years of NHS Executive Board level experience at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. Tim was appointed as Chief Operating Officer in June 2006 before taking on the role of Executive Director of Delivery in September 2008 which incorporated board level responsibility for Workforce, R&D & Education. In 2019 following a merger with Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, Tim took on the role of Chief Innovation Officer which included responsibility for Research & Innovation, Education, Sustainability and Patient Services. In October 2023 Tim became the Chief Officer for Health Innovation West Midlands.

Tim is also a member of Birmingham Health Partners Executive Steering Group and a member of the West Midlands Health Technology Innovation Accelerator Executive Board. Tim holds an MSc in Health Care Policy and is an Honorary Professor at the University of Warwick Medical School and a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham.
