Husnara Malik is the Mental Health Programme lead on advancing mental health equalities and lead on the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework for NHS England. Husnara has a long-standing career in the public sector particularly in housing, health and social care, combined with the experience of working with a diverse group of people from those receiving care, to co-designing transformation of care, in order to improve access, experience and outcomes. As a policy lead for mental health equalities, Husnara has dedicated her efforts to help organisations to bridge the gap of inequalities through promoting NHS England’s priorities on reducing inequalities and inequities and ensuring the voices of lived expertise is central to shaping the future of mental health services which includes organisations cultural shift on diversifying their efforts to become more inclusive as leaders of their organisation.
