Hazel Buchanan

Associate Director of Health Inequalities, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB

Hazel Buchanan (BA, MA, MBA) is the Associate Director of Health Inequalities and Clinical Strategic Programmes with the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board, driving forward change at both an NHS and Integrated Care System level. Hazel’s role is very much in line with her interests and passion for health policy and service delivery, with health inequalities at the core. Wider complimentary responsibilities include research, evidence based practice, clinical and care professional leadership and health protection allowing for a comprehensive approach to embedding population health.

Prior to this, Hazel has been a part of NHS commissioning organisations for fifteen years, holding a variety of senior roles providing the opportunity for a breadth of knowledge and experience. Hazel’s NHS career is supported by her experience outside of the NHS, working in the financial sector with extensive expertise in change, business process and programme management. Prior to this, Hazel’s enthusiasm for a fair and equitable healthcare system began in research and management at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and academically with a focus on social and health policy.
