Professor Dean Fathers
Dean has held numerous senior appointments across the health, care and life science sector.
He is currently Chair of HINENC (Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria), Chair of the Midlands Engine Health, Care and Life Science Board, a Non-Executive Director on the Board of the AHCS (where he chairs the Academy’s Life Science Task and Finish Group), a Non-Executive Director of the Parliamentary Healthcare Ombudsman (where he chairs the Quality Committee) and the Independent Chair of Quality Safety and Risk at Voyage Care.
Dean is also an advisor to commercial health organisations ATMPS, Blum Health, CAL International, Cerina, Klip Global, NeedleSmart and Oxehealth (where he is also the Chair of their UK Advisory Board).
An Honorary Professor of Healthcare Leadership at the University of Nottingham’s Business School, and a Member of the Advisory Board for the Centre for Innovation and Social Enterprise at the University of Delhi, Dean is also an Honorary Visiting Professor of Organisational Resilience at the University of Lincoln (and formerly chaired both the Centre for Organisational Resilience and the International Scientific Advisory Board of the Lincoln International Institute for Rural and Coastal Healthcare) as well as a Member of the Advisory Board for Liverpool Hope University Business School. Dean’s other former Academic associations have been with Leeds Business School (Honorary Visiting Professor in Leadership, Governance and Global Responsibility) and at Cass (now Bayes) Business School, where he was Professor in Practice of Health and Social Care Leadership.
Dean started his association with the NHS as Chair of Doncaster Health Authority and subsequently became the Chair of separate Primary Care, Community, Mental Health and Acute NHS Trusts. Dean has also held board roles with the NHS Confederation’s Mental Health Network, NHS Leadership Academy and NHS Providers.
He has held Board roles with health related third sector organisations too and is currently a Trustee of charities Portland College and Care After Combat.
