I have been working in Substance Misuse services for the past 10 years. During this time, one of the areas which has caused the most difficulty for patients has been accessing mental health services in the community when they are in active substance use.

The Co-occurring conditions service was commissioned as part of the No Wrong Door programme by Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICS in early 2023, and I was fortunate enough to be asked to lead this initiative.

During the short time we have been in operation, we have seen a significant change in the access to mental health support in the community for substance users, due to the positive partnerships we have been able to forge with CMHT, NHS Talking Therapies , Primary Care and third sector partners
