Barbara Kasumu

Executive Director of Charities, Guy's and St Thomas' Foundation

Barbara serves as the Executive Director of Charities at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where she has strategic oversight of their work as a hospital charity which includes funding within Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and fundraising. She leads three charity brands—Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity, Evelina London Children’s Charity, and Guy’s Cancer Charity—which are dedicated to supporting NHS staff with well-being services, driving healthcare innovation, and enhancing patient and family care.

With over 15 years of senior leadership experience in both the higher education and charity sectors, Barbara has a rich background in organizational leadership. Before her current role, she was the Director of Membership, Programmes and Business Development at the Association of Commonwealth Universities, and Executive Director at the National Union of Students. In these capacities, she was pivotal in driving significant organizational reforms, focusing on income generation, innovation, and strategic initiatives.

Barbara is actively involved in several prestigious roles beyond her primary position. She currently serves as a non-executive director on the board of the Youth Hostel Association. She has been recognized as Red Magazine's 'Woman to Watch' and has served on the Diversity and Inclusion board for the London 2012 Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games. Previously, she has been a board member for the Foyer Federation and The Kids Network. Additionally, Barbara is a Clore Social Fellow and has represented the UK at international forums, including the G8 and G20 summits.
