Dr Balraj Mavi completed his GP training in Sandwell within the Black Country. Here he had encountered some of the highest deprivations of England. Through recognition of cardiovascular disease and diabetes shortening life and worsening quality of life, Dr Mavi completed a Diploma of Diabetes. He has progressed in his role to address health inequalities and population health reviews. Dr Mavi is now GP Principal at Wordsley Green Surgery, Stourbridge, PCN clinical director, Lead GP and Honorary Clinical Tutor at the University of Birmingham.
