This session presents the GIRFT approach to reducing patient waiting times while ensuring there are sustainable improvements in how services and pathways are configured and managed. The Further Faster Programme aims to reduce the number of patients waiting over a year (52 weeks), using standardised pathways across 19 specialties, including day case surgery pathways and the use of elective hubs.

NHS Devon will showcase how it has reduced spinal surgery waiting times by up to 80 per cent for long-waiting patients through collaboration across multiple hospital sites, with additional surgical capacity at the Nightingale Elective Surgical Hub.

Speakers
Professor Tim Briggs CBE, Chair of GIRFT and NHSE National Director of Clinical Improvement and Elective Recovery - NHS England
