How can volunteers help me?

12 Jun 2024
The role of the voluntary sector theatre
Learning theatre , The role of the voluntary sector

Volunteers have always supported the NHS but the range of ways in which they offer support is changing. There are over 300 different volunteering roles available throughout the NHS, supporting every part of patients’ lives, in hospital and in the community. The benefits these volunteers bring to the experiences and outcomes of our patients is invaluable and can also help reduce pressure on busy services.

In this session, you will hear examples of volunteer roles in:
• appointment attendance
• mental health
• speech and language support.

Speakers
Emma Easton OBE, Deputy Director of Experience and Partnerships - NHS England
Debra Dudley, Project Manager - Mental Health Volunteering - Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
