Patients detained under the Mental Health Act from ethnically diverse communities face significant inequalities in their experience of inpatient care. Linking with the principles of the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework, the Mental Health Act Quality Improvement (QI) Programme aims to make progress in addressing these inequalities. The 15 mental health trusts taking part in the programme’s pilot phase have begun developing and implementing co-produced change ideas that put into practice the inequality-reducing ambitions of the reform of the Act. This session will share actionable learning from those trusts – what’s working well and what still needs to be better.
