Tania Sparkes
Tania Sparkes, a proud Mancunian, is one of the faces and voices of the We Are Undefeatable campaign. We Are Undefeatable is a collective movement and national campaign supporting and encouraging people living with long-term conditions to find ways of being active in ways which work for them. Being treated for cancer, having multiple major surgeries and now living with an chronically infected open abdominal wound and living with depression led Tania, a solo-mother of one, to think more about ways of moving that worked for her and how these could fit into her life which can sometimes be overburdened by hospital visits and affected by fatigue, pain and muscle wastage. Tania does things that she finds enjoyable, first and foremost. This can mean getting active with her daughter by dancing around the house or going on walks with friends, this can be as adaptable as needed, its also a way to catch up and get out as Tania has found her multiple hospital stays to be very isolating. By making being active a social affair, she’s found it all the more enjoyable and managable, living with the mantra 'celebrating the small wins'
