Dr Sharon Dixon
Dr Sharon Dixon is a GP and NIHR doctoral research fellow at Oxford University, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences. Her research includes qualitative research on primary care pathways to care across a range of service needs including safeguarding, domestic violence and abuse, endometriosis, menopause and female genital mutilation. She is a trustee of the sundial centre for education on harmful practices. She has acted as an RCGP college representative for FGM. She helped co-develop an educational resource for primary care to support caring for people potentially affected by FGM. She collaborated to develop a collaborative project exploring stakeholder priorities in FemTech. She is currently an NIHR Doctoral Research Fellow, undertaking a mixed-methods research study seeking to improve the evidence base for managing teenagers with period pain in primary care.
