Dr Shanika de Silva
I graduated from the University of Leeds and completed my GI training in the West Midlands. During my training I also spent one year at the University of Calgary, Canada as an Advanced Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Fellow, before returning as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Dudley Group NHS trust in 2010. Since then I have been the IBD clinical lead, and have been actively involved in both commercial and non commercial IBD research, IBD education and training. In 2023 I obtained my International Bowel Ultra Sound Group ( IBUS) qualification and now provide a regular point of care ultra sound service for my IBD patients. The Dudley Trust is one of the first two trusts to be awarded international training status by the IBUS group.
