Sarah Barley-McMullen is a former University Diversity and Inclusion Lead and Senior Lecturer who retired in March 2022 due to Long COVID. As the founder of Be Longing for Change Consultancy, Sarah works when she is well, supporting charities and communities to embed meaningful inclusion and celebrate diversity..

Living with Long COVID, Sarah navigates challenges with a solution-focused attitude, advocating fiercely for others in her charity and trustee roles. She is a Stonewall Role Model and founder of the award-winning Pride in Belper, working alongside her wife Helen to promote real community inclusion, protest for equal rights and the celebration of diversity.

Since retiring, Sarah has worked as a Patient and Public Voice (PPV) representative for NHS England (NHSE), contributing to the LGBTQIA+ Sounding Board and collaborating with the People and Communities team to develop a Listening Culture that ensures diverse patient voices shape healthcare policy and practice.

A passionate advocate for justice and cultural change, Sarah works hard to create an impact and champion change.
