Professor Peter Johnson CBE
Peter Johnson trained in oncology at St Bartholomew's Hospital and was a senior lecturer in Cancer Medicine in Leeds. He has been Professor of Medical Oncology in Southampton since 1998 and has led many clinical trials, ranging from first in human antibody therapies to international phase 3 studies, and most recently a large scale comparative biomarker study in lung cancer screening. He was Chief Clinician for Cancer Research UK from 2008-2017 where he set up the stratified medicine programme and was a scientific advisor to the 100 000 genomes programme. He is currently National Clinical Director for Cancer at NHS England.
