Dr Nish Manek BEM
Dr Nish Manek is a GP in Cambridge and currently Associate Medical Director for GP Leadership at NHS England. In 2017, while still in GP training, she founded Next Generation GP, a free national leadership programme for early-career GPs. The programme has since grown into a UK-wide movement, reaching over 3,500 emerging leaders across 30 cities, and expanding internationally to Australia. She also hosts The Next GenCast, interviewing well-known leaders from inside and outside the NHS.
In recognition of her work, Nish was awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2018.
She is also the First5 Lead for Cambridgeshire, supporting newly qualified GPs, and is a Director at AKESO, a social enterprise offering coaching support to GPs.
Passionate about inclusion, wellbeing and social justice, Nish has a particular interest in homeless health, and has written for the BBC, BMJ, and The Guardian
