Nellie Allsop

Senior Branch Engagement Officer, National Autistic Society

Nellie Allsop is an autistic young woman who works for the National Autistic Society. She was diagnosed as autistic in 2020, and is currently trying to recover from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). She has been involved with the National Autistic Society since 2015, when she volunteered for the charity while studying at university. In her day to day role she can be found supporting volunteers at the charity, as well as interviewing, giving talks and helping out at fundraising events. Nellie is keen to spread acceptance and understanding of autism, and has recently received training to be an expert by experience, so that she can educate NHS staff in inpatient mental health settings about autism. Nellie has received treatment for her OCD from the NHS since 2017 and is keen to see community mental health provision improve for autistic people.
