Melissa Mellett
Associate Director of Urgent and Emergency Care, North West London Integrated Care Board
Melissa Mellett is an experienced NHS leader working at the intersection of hospital, community, and system-level care. As Associate Director of Urgent and Emergency Care for North West London ICB, she leads transformation across the UEC pathway — from 999 and Emergency Departments through to discharge, virtual wards, and community recovery.
With a career spanning both provider and commissioner roles, Melissa brings a unique system perspective to urgent care. She has led hospital operations, including medical and surgical services, site management, and patient flow — giving her deep insight into the real-time pressures frontline teams face. Now working at ICB level, she shapes strategic commissioning, system governance, and investment plans across eight boroughs, helping deliver integrated solutions that support timely, safe care closer to home.
Melissa’s recent work includes scaling community alternatives to admission, improving discharge processes through shared incentives, and building cross-sector models to support people with frailty and long-term conditions. She is also the strategic lead for the NWL System Flow Optimisation Board, aligning executive-level decision-making across Trusts, Local Authorities, and primary and community care.
Melissa is a passionate advocate for collaborative working, and believes sustainable improvement happens when we bring people together across organisational boundaries — with honesty, shared data, and a relentless focus on what matters to patients.
