Karon Cormack

Director of Quality, NHS Lanarkshire

Currently the Director of Quality for NHS Lanarkshire which is the 3rd largest board in Scotland with both an urban and rural population. The Health Board has 3 acute hospitals as well as several rehabilitation smaller hospitals and 2 Health and Social Care Partnerships (North and South Lanarkshire). The role leads the Quality Directorate that includes Quality Improvement, Evidence for Quality and Quality Assurance as well as providing expertise for the Board on matters of Clinical Governance.
Originally trained as a nurse and specialised in Operating Theatre Nursing. Has been working in roles related to Clinical Governance and Quality for over 20 years. Has a specialist interest in Human Factors, Quality Improvement, Coaching and Leadership.
Continually learning including: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (WoS University), Post Graduate Professional Certificate in Management (Open University), Post Graduate Module in Risk & Accountability in Health & Social Care (Dundee University), Post Graduate Certificate in Frontline Leadership and Management (De Montford University), Post Graduate Module Quantitative Information for Service Improvement (University of Edinburgh), trained Improvement Advisor (Institute for Healthcare Improvement), Post Graduate Certificate in Ergonomics (Derby University), Certified life coach (Mindful Talent). Fellowship in Governance with Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh.
