Dr John Jeans
John Jeans is a consultant anaesthetist and a director of healthcare transformation agency 33n, leading the NHS CLEAR programme nationally. Following his father's experience of care in 2013, John learned about healthcare modelling and system redesign. Working with like-minded people, he created a way to deliver data-informed and clinically-led improvements to patient care within the NHS through the creation of the National CLEAR Programme – a work-based learning initiative delivered by 33n and hosted by East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.
The National Clinically-Led Workforce and Activity Redesign (CLEAR) Programme combines clinical insight, data analysis, and technology to create innovative new models of care and workforce redesign. CLEAR projects provide clinically sound, co-developed recommendations that are operationally possible and financially viable. John is also passionate about harnessing AI to enhance productivity in healthcare, using automation and intelligent systems to streamline workflows, reduce administrative burden, and optimise clinical decision-making. His work focuses on integrating AI-driven insights with human expertise to drive sustainable improvements in patient care and workforce efficiency.
