Joanne Purvis
Dental Nurse by background, and trained and worked in Orthodontic Services, Special Care and Oral Health Promotion. Career began in General Practice, moving to Community Dental Services, where she was Oral Health Promotion Lead Manager for South Tyneside and Sunderland Foundation Trust. A career move during Covid 19 led Joanne to work as the Special Education Settings Project Manager, sitting under the Office of Chief Dental Office, and is Mini Mouth Care Matters Project Lead for the NHS Sensory Project as part of the NHS Long Term Plan.
In 2022 she took on the role as Dental Network Manager within NHSE with the responsibility for Restorative and Paediatric Dentistry Managed Clinical Networks across the South West. Joanne has 35 years dental experience and is extremely passionate about oral health, ensuring that the whole dental team are fairly represented at a high-level, promoting engagement and upskilling of team members. She is an ambassador for Mini Mouth Care Matters, and firmly believes integration of oral health with general health is key to making positive prevention changes to our population, putting the mouth back into the body.
