Jan Larkin
Jan Larkin is also Head of Psychology & Psychotherapy at Turning Point and Head of Psychology & Psychotherapy for Addictions at South London and Maudsley NHS Trust and a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. Jan initially trained and worked as a Registered Mental Nurse and then trained as a Clinical Psychologist in Edinburgh. She has worked in substance misuse and mental health services since 1992 and has been actively involved with the Faculty of Addictions of the British Psychological Society, as Chair of the Faculty from 2014-2018. Jan is an accredited trainer in Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavior Therapy and an accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapy practitioner. She is an active contributor to development of national guidance and training , previously with Public Health England, now OHID. Jan has a particular interest in working with family members of those using substances and is a longstanding contributor to research on the 5 Step model in this area. Contributions to academic publications include BPS Clinical Psychology guidance, models of addiction for RCGP texts, working with bereaved family members and research to practice in alcohol services.
