Jake Mills
Jake Mills is a visionary leader, mental health campaigner, and CEO of the national mental health charity, Chasing the Stigma.
An award-winning stand-up comedian turned mental health advocate, Jake founded Chasing the Stigma after his own battle with depression and a suicide attempt in 2013, transforming his personal struggles into a powerful mission to break down barriers surrounding mental health in the UK.
In his role as CEO, Jake has spearheaded initiatives that have made Chasing the Stigma one of the UK’s fastest-growing and well-respected mental health charities. Under his leadership, the charity launched the Hub of Hope, the UK's largest and most comprehensive mental health database, connecting individuals with more than 14,500 local and national support services.
Recognised as the "main national signposting tool for mental health services in England" by NHS England, the Hub of Hope is now integrated into policies and strategies across the country, ensuring people can access the help they need when they need it most.
Jake's work doesn’t stop at digital solutions. He’s a pioneer in service design, creating accessible, user-centred mental health services that meet real-world needs. His innovative ideas have led to collaborations with prominent organisations such as Mind, Network Rail, and The Priory, and he has played a significant role in projects like James' Place and Everton Football Club’s People’s Place.
His latest initiative, Hope in the Community, brings mental health support directly into local communities through nonclinical, collaborative hubs.
Through his inspiring leadership, Jake Mills is redefining how mental health support is accessed and perceived, creating a legacy of positive social impact for generations to come.
A sought-after speaker, Jake’s unique blend of humour and empathy allows him to connect with people from all walks of life, from government officials and corporate partners to the general public. His natural communication skills and passion for advocacy have solidified his reputation as one of the most influential voices in the mental health sector.
