Helen Moore
Helen Moore is a senior manager in NHS England’s Behavioural Science Unit – a small team which works on projects across NHS England and the NHS, using evidence from behavioural science to generate practical solutions that work with, rather than against, the way the public, patients and staff actually behave.
Helen’s interest in behavioural science started when she worked as a research manager at the Office for National Statistics (ONS). She saw its potential to influence the public’s willingness to participate in vital, but voluntary, national surveys such as the Labour Force Survey. Helen’s team worked with the external Behavioural Insights Team (BIT) to develop behaviourally-informed invitation and reminder materials for ONS’s successful Census 2021 data collection.
Earlier in her career, Helen worked for several UK government departments including the Lord Chancellor’s Department, the Department of Health (back when it included the NHS Executive) and the Department for Work and Pensions. When she lived in New Zealand with her family, she was a play leader at the parent cooperative early years provider, Playcentre, and later worked as a researcher in the NZ Families Commission.
