Programme Manager: Transformation Delivery, NHS Dorset

Prior to her NHS career Helen held positions within national and local government. She joined the NHS 10 years ago, holding a range of positions following completion of a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. After initially working within a Quality team with key focus areas of clinical effectiveness, patient safety and patient experience she worked clinically in the Psychology field within a community care group and for the Forensic Intellectual and Neurodevelopmental Disorders Service. Helen’s career took a different direction from 2020 when she commenced a Project Lead role within a Specialist Community Perinatal Mental Health Team, setting up a completely new Maternal Mental Health Service; providing psychological support for women experiencing PTSD symptomology resulting from birth trauma or perinatal loss - a joint venture between mental health and maternity services. She undertook project management training (Prince 2 Foundation and Practitioner) concurrently. In 2022 she moved to a Programme Manager role at NHS England, overseeing the implementation of the NHS Long Term Plan ambitions for Specialist Community Perinatal Mental Health Services across England, also leading on the design, analysis and implementation of policy and other national levers, including guidance and metrics to enable mental health transformation. Helen joined the Transformation Management Office at NHS Dorset in September 2023 and quickly commenced Programme Management of the Dorset Women’s Health Programme. She has a proven track record of implementing large-scale transformational change across professional and organisational boundaries, always in partnership with those with lived experience to ensure co-production at all stages of decision making.
