Dr Hassan Mahmood is the Clinical Director of the Learning Disability Service in Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust. He is also a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Intellectual Disability Executive Committee.
He has made a rapid ascent into senior medical leadership and his work has been nationally recognised as shown by him being shortlisted for the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ “Psychiatrist of the Year” award in 2021.
He was interim Divisional Medical Director in Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 and had an interview about his leadership experience during the pandemic published in the BMJ Leader.
He innovated “Multicultural STOMP” a national first, which aims to improve STOMP implementation in people with Learning Disability and/or Autism. His innovation was rated by CQC as “outstanding practice” in 2020.
