Dr Steven Laitner

GP and Primary Care Clinical Advisor on Learning Disability, NHS England and NHS Improvment

Steve Laitner is a practicing GP in St Albans, Hertfordshire and a freelance health consultant. After public health and clinical leadership roles in the NHS at local, regional and national levels he moved into the world of healthcare consulting.

Steven supports a number of NHS organisations, healthcare providers, health-tech businesses and start-ups with their clinical strategies, partnerships and delivery.

Given his clinical and public health foundations Steve has a particular interest in Population Health Management (PHM) and is currently supporting the national Place Development Programme with PHM place-led approaches.

Steven is a clinical advisor to the learning disability and autism team at NHSE/I.

He also has a passion for shared decision making (previously the national clinical lead), long term conditions, patient empowerment, patient leadership and service redesign.

He has a particular interest in patient access and brought in “telephone triage” into his practice about 15 years ago.

He lives with his wife, three daughters and dog in St Albans, Hertfordshire.
