Claire Igoe

Associate Director of Sustainability, NHS Greater Manchester

Claire Igoe is the Associate Director of Sustainability at NHS Greater Manchester, providing strategic leadership on the environmental sustainability agenda and overseeing delivery of the NHS GM Green Plan. As a key member of the NHS GM Population Health Senior Management Team, she drives a comprehensive programme of work, fostering a culture of collaboration and cooperation with system partners.
Claire’s career began in the pharmaceutical sector, before she transitioned into the environmental field. She spent several years at an environmental charity, delivering both funded and private environmental consultancy services. Subsequently, Claire joined Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, where she led the sustainability function, honing both her technical and strategic sustainability skills. Claire is adept at engaging staff at all levels, including Board members. Her collaborative working style has proven effective in fostering partnerships and engaging stakeholders.
Claire academic background includes a degree in Chemistry with Industrial Environmental Chemistry and a Master’s degree in Pollution and Environmental Control. Claire is a full member of IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) and a Chartered Environmentalist.
