Cedi Frederick

Chair, NHS Kent and Medway

In a career which started with 14 years in local government and spanning over 45 years, Cedi has held a number of senior management and chief executive positions across the public, Not-for-Profit and private sectors.
His extensive NED experience of over 35 years has included a series of senior positions on the Boards of several housing associations, social care, sporting national governing bodies, charities and voluntary organisations. In addition, Cedi was the Non-Executive Director of two specialist NHS Mental Health Trusts, Chair of an NHS Hospital Trust and Governor of Canterbury Christ Church University.
Cedi is currently Chair of NHS Kent and Medway, Chair of The Centre for Healthy and Empowered Communities, Co-Chair of Inspire for Black Londoners and is a Non-Executive Director of Sage Homes and Care REIT PLC. He is also a Kent Ambassador and until April 2024 was Chair of NHS London’s Legacy and Health Equity Oversight Partnership Group.
Cedi is owner and Managing Director of Article Consulting Ltd. Article works with ‘Leaders of Today and Tomorrow’ by supporting their thinking, planning and resilience as well as co-founder and CEO Consiliaris Digital Systems; a health tech start up. Cedi also runs a successful executive coaching and mentoring practice.
Cedi has been named on four separate occasions as one of Britain's ‘100 Most Influential Black People’; described as '…unsung hero of the Third Sector, who has changed as many lives in his life outside of work as he has in his job'. In 2015, Cedi was recognised as one of the ‘1,000 Black & Asian Heroes 1950-2010’ by Our Heritage TV.
In September 2024, Cedi received an Honorary Doctorate from Canterbury Christ Church University, in recognition of his outstanding personal contribution to public services in health, social care and in education.
