NHS England leads the NHS in England.  We support NHS organisations to deliver safe, high quality services that meet the full range of people’s health and care needs.

Colleagues will be hosting discussion sessions on a range of topics across health and care, and we’ll also have an open networking space where you can catch up with colleagues informally for a chat over the two days.

Engaging with young people across the NHS

Children and young people (CYP) represent a third of our country and their wellbeing will determine our future. It is vital we listen to their voices and ensure our decision-making is guided by their experiences, needs and ideas. 

Young members from the CYP Transformation Board and the NHS Youth Forum will be hosting a networking session, where you will hear about their latest projects including reports on digital services, the NHS’s use of social media, healthcare inequalities and mental health. You can also get advice on how to embed the voices of CYP into your own work.

Diabetes is one of the biggest healthcare challenges of our time: meet the NHS Diabetes Programme working to improve outcomes for people living with diabetes and prevent type 2 diabetes

An informal drop-in session where you are invited to join two senior leaders of the NHS Diabetes programme to learn about how we’re making our NHS Long Term Plan commitments a reality including expanding the Healthier You NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme, NHS Type 2 Diabetes Path to Remission Programme, digital structured education, and more.

Provider collaboratives networking and Q&A

Informal drop-in session on provider collaboratives, for leaders across the NHS. The session will provide information, troubleshooting and networking opportunities for those who are looking to form collaboratives or in established collaboratives. There will be opportunities to ask questions and provide feedback on NHS England resources for collaboratives including the recently published maturity matrix, Innovators Scheme, and FutureNHS Platform.

NHS@75: in conversation

This is a chance for ConfedExpo delegates to meet with NHS Assembly members who have been leading engagement for the NHS@75 programme. Keen to continue the conversation that started in May, the networking area will be used for people to drop-in and have discussions with Assembly members about the engagement, as well as a chance to share any views or queries they may have.

Also at the stand will be NHS England colleagues who provide the secretariat for the Assembly, and members of the NHS England Strategy team.

Creating a consistent induction and onboarding experience for non-Executives

In their review “Leadership for a collaborative and inclusive future report” General Sir Gordon Messenger and Dame Linda Pollard highlighted the vital and sometimes undervalued role non-executives play in ensuring accountability and shaping organisational culture. Recommending several key areas for future focus to attract diverse talent supported with tailored development. So, what can we do to improve onboarding and induction for non-executives joining trusts and ICBs? We want your views on our initial thinking and to hear your personal experiences and thoughts on how to make this a better experience in the future.

Network with NHS commercial leaders – procurement, estates and Supply Chain

This networking session invites delegates to meet the NHS England Commercial Directorate senior team, to discuss how NHS commercial is working to ensure effective use of NHS resources, deliver value for money for the taxpayer and provide an update on the ICS estate strategy programme, supporting the NHS net zero ambitions. Amongst the team available to networking with are David Williams, Director of Procurement, Simon Corben, Director and Head of Profession for NHS Estates and Facilities, Andrew New, Chief Executive Officer for NHS Supply Chain and Alexandra Hammond, Head of Sustainable Procurement and Supply Chain.

The impact of domestic abuse and sexual violence are felt in every area of the health care system, from emergency departments to ambulance callouts to maternity wards. Maximising elective recovery through surgical hubs, productivity, and theatre utilisation (GIRFT)                       

This session is aimed at clinical teams and managers interested in the development of surgical hubs, productivity, and theatre utilisation. With guidance from the GIRFT team on the principles of meeting top clinical and operational standards, this session offers learning on:

• ring-fencing elective capacity

• maximising throughput of surgical theatres

• good practice on establishing surgical hubs and achieving accreditation.

It will also showcase a new online toolkit for running an effective surgical hub.

How the Digital Medicines Programme is enabling the seamless exchange of information about patient medications, allergies, intolerances and prescriptions across all NHS clinical IT systems to improve safety and efficiency, allow staff to focus on care and provide patients with a better experience.

Future directions in digital Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC)

Digital Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) products help thousands of people every year find the right care, from the right person, at the right time. In this drop-in Q&A session find out what’s on the horizon and how you can make the most of services such as 111 online, NHS Pathways and the Directory of Services in support of the UEC Recovery plan.

We also want to hear from you. How can we better integrate national products in local plans? How can these products better support you? And how do we better support innovation?

The vision for volunteering in health and care and the NHS Volunteering Taskforce

Come and talk to members of the NHS Volunteering Taskforce about their recommendations and explore opportunities to expand and realise the potential of volunteering.  Whether improving patient experience and outcomes, improving staff wellbeing, reducing pressure on services, or providing a route through to careers, the impact of volunteering is significant.  Yet volunteering in the NHS is fragmented and we could do more to enable this impact to be realised.  The NHS Volunteering Taskforce has established a vision for volunteering and a blueprint for achieving this.  Please join us to find out how you can be part of this movement.
