This will be a practical, joint session between the NHS Confederation's Primary Care Network (PCN) and the Mental Health Network (MHN), supporting members to implement the new mental health practitioner roles that sit within primary care but are jointly funded by mental health trusts. These new roles are an opportunity to improve partnership working between primary and secondary mental health care and to improve the support that people with mental health problems receive in the community.

It was expected that every primary care network would have one of these roles in place by April 2022, but we are likely to be far off this target and we want to help members to overcome barriers to implementing the roles.

This learning session will hear from areas that have been successful, exploring how they overcame barriers and highlight takeaway tips for areas that are struggling to successfully embed these roles.
