With the context of increasing demand and more complex conditions than ever before, we know that maintaining the current size of our workforce, skill mix and ways of working will not be enough to deliver the joined up services and care needed by people across the country.

The publication of the long-term workforce plan for the NHS is significant and sets out some important steps but we know we all have a part to play in delivering both in the short and long term, as well as understanding the dynamics and interactions of the whole care system workforce.
