A whole person approach: integrating physical and mental health care to improve patient care
Integration is at the heart of the NHS. The future of healthcare lies in our ability to bring physical and mental healthcare together, with people’s needs at the centre of service delivery.
Today, adults with severe mental illness die on average 15 to 20 years younger than the general population. And the pandemic has highlighted how inequalities continue to impact both the physical and mental health of those living in the most deprived communities.
In this session, speakers with lived experience and those providing national and local perspectives will explore how the NHS is promoting integration across mental and physical health services, from the creation of new roles to the implementation of more integrated pathways designed with population needs in mind.
