Increasing diversity in clinical trials to reduce health inequalities
Integrated care systems (ICSs) have an ambition and statutory duty to improve population health outcomes and tackle inequalities. Also, under the Health & Care Act, ICSs are required to promote, facilitate and report on research.
These two duties are interdependent, given the critical role clinical research plays in addressing the unmet needs of patients and underserved communities through the development of new medicines and vaccines in clinical trials.
This session will examine the role of partnership working between industry and ICSs, in encouraging greater diversity in clinical trial participation, exploring challenges, barriers, opportunities and best practice examples.
