The NHS is the biggest employer in Europe, and the world’s largest employer of highly skilled professionals. Workforce growth has not kept up with the increasing demands on the NHS and so growing our workforce globally and locally is a must if we are to address the pressures of workload and deliver the care patients need.

Our NHS workforce is a global workforce and proudly so. We need to recruit at pace and scale, focusing on domestic recruitment, international recruitment and encouraging staff to return to practice

This session will look at international recruitment: how colleagues across the NHS have successfully recruited and supported overseas colleagues coming to work into the NHS and how they have created an organisational culture where everyone feels they belong.

It will also focus on local recruitment and examples of where providers have worked together to support the recruitment of colleagues locally.

This session is part of the Sustainable Healthcare Zone, which is sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim.
