The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the detection and management of cardiovascular risk factor conditions, particularly hypertension, atrial fibrillation and cholesterol. The NHS’s CVD prevention recovery plan has set out high impact national and local actions to restore detection and monitoring of these conditions to pre-pandemic levels.

The session will hear from Dr Shahed Ahmad, national clinical director for CVD prevention, followed by insight from Dr Gunjit Bandesha, consultant in public health on local initiatives being implemented across the north west to tackle cardiovascular disease.

This session is part of the Recovery and Transformation Zone, which is supported by Novartis Pharmaceuticals UK.
