Sustainable healthcare

NHS teams across the country are meeting the challenges of environmental and social sustainability in healthcare with innovative, patient centred solutions.

This feature zone will showcase how the NHS is working together and with partners to create a system fit for the future.

This includes the ways we adopt Greener NHS initiatives, address health inequalities using population health management approaches, how we work with partners to deliver a sustainable workforce and how we better use our collective resources to support our patients and communities in the future.

The 'Sustainable healthcare' zone is sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim.

Digital and data transformation

Across the health and care system people are using data and technology more efficiently and effectively than ever before. Digital and data transformation is essential for providing frontline staff with the information they need to provide the best possible care, secure insights to put patients and citizens at the centre of service design and tackle health inequalities. This transformation is a key enabler for ICSs to effectively coordinate care for local communities and increase transparency and understanding of why data matters and how it is used. This feature zone will showcase new innovations that are helping the NHS to go further, faster and smarter.

The 'Digital and data transformation' zone is supported by NHS Digital.

Recovery and system transformation

This feature zone will focus on how the NHS is transforming, applying innovation and working in partnership with organisations from other sectors to best recover services and fit with the new Health and Care Bill which becomes law in July 2022. The zone will explore innovative approaches helping transform services available to patients at all stages of their treatment, including developments in personalised and community care which help patients to be treated how and where they are most comfortable. It will also look at the current work on population health management, the benefits of ICSs and the work we are doing to tackle health inequalities to ensure our patients’ needs are met as expertly and efficiently as possible.

The 'Recovery and transformation' zone is supported by Novartis Pharmaceuticals UK.

Learning theatres

Primary Care

Primary care is the keystone of the NHS, providing high-quality responsive integrated care for patients in health and care systems. This learning theatre will showcase the impact of primary care at neighbourhood, place and system level playing an ever-increasing partnership role in the design and delivery of personalised, integrated care.

Hear from colleagues sharing their experiences on issues such as the principles and practicalities of multidisciplinary team working, integrating community pharmacy into urgent care, and utilising existing community infrastructure to solve estates challenges.

This space will also offer the opportunity engage with the NHS Confederation primary care network, and to connect with colleagues and primary care leaders.

Mental Health

Demand is mounting within mental health services. The additional demand since the pandemic is putting tremendous pressure on mental health and other services, and is increasing waiting times, especially for those needing more routine care. Join us in the mental health learning theatre to explore opportunities for integration, innovation and building partnerships and collaborations in mental health.

This space will hear from a range of partners on their efforts to reduce health inequalities, support the workforce, and strengthen service user involvement and engagement in mental health.
