Charter 7

Everyone wants to feel safe at work. The NHS Long Term Plan, NHS People Plan and NHS People Promise demonstrate a commitment to support the health and wellbeing of NHS colleagues, recognising the negative impact that poor staff health and wellbeing can have on patient care.

The NHS England Violence Prevention and Reduction Programme aims to support NHS organisations and systems to embed a culture where our NHS colleagues feel supported, safe and secure at work. Hear directly from trusts who have transformed their violent incidents, protecting their staff and patients, creating a safe place to work and gaining a reputation for being a safe place to work, in turn reducing absenteeism and ultimately improving staff experience, retention and patient care.

This session will focus on:

• supporting NHS organisations and systems to embed a culture where our NHS colleagues feel supported, safe and secure at work
• learning from what works, creating a safer workplace, reducing and preventing violence and supporting innovation and best practice across the NHS
• considering how we can bridge the gap between creating safer workplaces and teams to improve staff experience, retention and patient care.
