Reclaiming the rainbow: making the NHS more inclusive for LGBTQIA+ staff and patients

Whether you are a member of the LGBTQIA+ community or an ally, all are welcome to join this interactive session on how the NHS can be more inclusive for NHS patients and staff.

Delegates can choose to join two out of six different discussion groups then share feedback and thoughts with the wider group:

  1. LGBTQIA+ demographics and data collection (hosted by Iain Bell, Public Health Wales)
  2. Health inequalities and closing the gap in NHS services (hosted by Michael Brady, national LGBT+ health adviser)
  3. Training the NHS workforce: providing inclusive and compassionate care for LGBTQIA+ patients (hosted by Melanie Holloway, chair of NHS England LGBTQIA+ staff network)
  4. Breaking barriers: increasing LGBTQIA+ representation in NHS leadership (hosted by Dr Layla McCay, policy director at the NHS Confederation and executive lead of the Health and Care LGBTQ+ Leaders Network)
  5. Intersectionality, advocacy and allyship: strengthening LGBTQIA+ leadership in the NHS (hosted by Kelly Angus, interim chief people officer at North East and Cumbria ICB)
  6. Embedding LGBTQIA+ inclusive policies in NHS leadership and strategy (hosted by Ian Green, chair of Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust and vice chair of the Health and Care LGBTQ+ Leaders Network).
