Pathways to progress: optimising diagnosis for patients with breathlessness
This session will delve into the pathways supporting the diagnosis of conditions with breathlessness as their major symptom, such as pulmonary hypertension, heart failure and other respiratory diseases.
The session will explore current barriers and opportunities, illustrating how implementation of the NHS England Adult Breathlessness Pathway and use of community diagnostic centres (CDCs) can deliver a ‘triple win’ by improving diagnostic speed and accuracy, improving patient outcomes and optimising healthcare resources.
Our panel will discuss how the optimised triage and referral of patients presenting with breathlessness can improve time to diagnosis across a number of conditions.
The session will highlight relevant work led by MSD, including a policy consensus statement in collaboration with experts in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and an economic analysis on the socio-economic cost of late diagnosis of PAH.
This non-promotional session has been developed and fully funded by MSD.
