2025 Agenda

Joint working to improve homes for people with a learning disability and autistic people

11 Jun 2025
Charter 6
Mental health , People with a learning disability and autistic people

With inspiration from two years of the national housing community of practice, this session is open to all who are interested in housing for autistic people and people with a learning disability.

Housing is the single biggest reason for people being delayed in discharge from mental health hospitals. It is also a powerful enabler for people to live in good health, experience freedom and dignity, build good relationships and live positive lives as valued citizens. The session will explore:

• breaking down barriers to housing, working together effectively across health, housing and social care to transform people's housing options.
• thinking creatively and making great things happen through fantastic leadership, a positive approach and good relationships with partners.

Chaired by NHS England, the session will hear perspectives from a local authority commissioner, a housing provider, an NHS commissioner, and a parent of two young men with a learning disability and autism who need their own homes.

There will be opportunity for delegates to ask questions, comment on their own experiences, and join the community of practice afterwards.
