Implementing innovations: learnings from real-world examples
This session will focus on using innovation to redesign patient pathways for efficiency and better outcomes. We will use real-world examples from three organisations (Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust) on redesigning outpatient services using risk stratification, AI-supported DNA prediction and AI-improved communication. The session will help participants to:
• understand the practical role of innovation in redesigning patient pathways to improve efficiency and patient outcomes, and identify how multiple small changes can re-shape the overall offering
• recognise the elements of successful pathway redesign from real-world case studies, including identifying opportunities, mapping patient journeys and how to overcome challenges encountered
• discover strategies for fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration in pathway redesign projects and get connected to NHS sites that made this work
• learn to measure the impact of pathway redesign using key performance indicators (KPIs) such as reduced wait times and improved patient satisfaction.
