Implementing anti-racism at system, organisation and service level: developing tools for change

11 Jun 2025
Charter 2
Health inequalities , Mobilising change / improvement

The NHS Race and Health Observatory was established by the NHS in 2021 to examine ethnic inequalities in health across the country, and to support national bodies in implementing meaningful change for ethnic minority communities, patients and members of the health and care workforce.

The Observatory co-produced a set of anti-racism principles, which highlight practical steps to foster anti-racist practice, raise awareness and address racial inequities in healthcare. This simple, evidence-based model of anti-racism is a good start for healthcare organisations and systems to begin to think about the steps needed to help shift the dial on racial inequalities for our communities and to guide healthcare organisations and systems in building equitable and inclusive healthcare landscapes.

We invite leaders from all levels of the health service to join an interactive session where we will share the anti-racism principles. Join this session to share examples and practical insights of addressing racial inequalities and we will work together to identify facilitators of change as well as currently unmet need.
