How can we build an equitable NHS by 2035?
We will bring together cross-sector experts to identify key actions and present strategic approaches to support integrated care systems (ICSs) and other key stakeholders to tackle health inequalities and collectively build an equitable NHS by 2035.
We will discuss the need to consider changing the commitment to recover NHS performance targets and outline the role of the upcoming ten-year health plan, particularly in developing new principles for how care should be designed and delivered to significantly improve healthcare equity and address disparities in access, patient experience and outcomes.
We will also share a new framework to enable integrated care boards (ICBs) to better understand health inequalities within their area and work collaboratively with their local communities to tackle these.
In collaboration with the Care Quality Commission and the Point of Care Foundation, funded by the Regulators’ Pioneer Fund, National Voices has developed a rigorous, scalable, self-assessment framework for ICSs. ICBs will be able to use this framework to assess how well their ICSs reduce health inequalities by acting on their engagement with and understanding of the health and care needs of people and communities.
