Getting to zero HIV transmissions: partnership working in primary care

11 Jun 2025
Collaboration and partnerships theatre
Collaboration / partnerships / patient or public engagement , Primary care, including pharmacy, optometry, and dentistry

The session will highlight where primary care can support existing services in elimination of HIV transmission and management of HIV as a long-term condition.

Building on case studies from Fast-Track Cities' pan-London HIV GP Champion pilot, the session will demonstrate how partnership between primary care and HIV services and HIV community organisations, local authorities, integrated care boards and wider stakeholders can improve services for HIV. This includes education in GP practices, addressing stigma, increasing HIV testing in primary care settings, improving access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) via GP services and bridging gaps in care between primary and secondary care affecting people living with HIV.
