Co-located mental health crisis havens: the next steps in crisis alternatives
The session will cover the evolution of co-located Safe Havens, from our origins in York in 2017 with one of the first Crisis Cafes in the country.
We will cover the relationship with our commissioners, how we have worked together to develop a model that works in the different environments and how we best interact with our trust partners to get the best outcomes for people accessing the service.
Drawing on cases studies from Devon Moorings ‘the Exeter experience’, and Havens in Medway, Thanet and Ashford, we will talk about the impact of working in a clinical landscape as a non-clinical provision and the cultural work completed with individuals that access services, as well as clinical networks to support in reducing A&E presentations through data presentations and urgent care pathway remodelling.
We will give focused stories from a selection of people who access the service, highlighting personal, family and community impact.
We will also look at the financial implications of keeping people out of A&E and preventing people being admitted to hospital.
