Breakfast walk and talk: climate change, nature and health
Join us for a refreshing morning walk around Manchester city centre to see urban greening initiatives and discuss the health benefits they provide as well as exploring key environmental sustainability challenges for the NHS. The walk will include a visit to the garden in the sky at the Grade II listed Castlefield Viaduct, where you will be provided with breakfast, whilst you learn about the history of this unique urban greening initiative and network with likeminded healthcare leaders.
England is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world, and this is impacting the air we breathe as well as the ecosystem processes that regulate the climate. Whilst we’re on the walk you’ll be discussing whether we are doing enough to understand the links between the natural world, climate change and its impact on health outcomes.
The walking route has been assessed to be inclusive of mixed physical abilities and access needs. For any specific accessibility or other enquiries, please contact nhsgm.sustainability@nhs.net. Booking is essential to guarantee your place. This event has been made possible with support from The National Trust.
