A vision for an NHS ready to embrace data, AI and secure data exchange
This talk explores the opportunity for radically improved data sharing within the NHS. It examines the challenges and barriers to secure, seamless data exchange between NHS organisations and colleagues, and the potential to drive delivery efficiencies and improved outcomes at a place, neighbourhood and system level.
The talk also addresses data and system readiness, preparing for the safe and ethical use of AI alongside security and privacy considerations, emphasising the need for robust safeguards and data governance.
With real-world examples, we examine the principles of the Open Data Initiative, presenting a vision for progressing NHS data maturity towards a secure and scalable data backplane. We consider ways to get more from existing technology investments whilst reducing the risk of vendor lock in.
By embracing a collaborative, vendor-neutral and data-driven approach, the NHS might unlock the full potential of its data to transform healthcare delivery and improve patient care.
